2018 Airline Update

State of Hawaii – Department of Transportation, Airports Division will share the latest updates on the larger statewide Hawaii Airports Modernization Program including expansion plans and ongoing improvements at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. Recently, HDOT was awarded $24.1 million in awards for improvement projects from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to be designated to HNL, KOA and Kalaeloa airports.

United Airlines celebrated 70-years of service in Hawaii last year and continues to make Hawaii an easily accessible destination while West Coast hubs Los Angeles and San Francisco remain the country’s largest gateways for connecting customers to Hawaii. United’s Denver hub is another primary interior gateway to Hawaii with over 90 destinations from U.S. and Canada. Hawaiian Airlines recently announced suspending its Honolulu-Beijing route in October and hopes to fly once again to China when the market matures. Entering 2018, the carrier expected to have eight A321neos to replace its Boeing 767s and increase service during peak seasons.
